Privacy Policy
Overview
CardBackup copies files from a source folder to a destination folder on your device. It does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. Everything the app does stays entirely on your device.
Data the app stores locally
- Folder bookmarks - security-scoped bookmarks for your chosen source and destination folders, stored in UserDefaults so the app can reopen them between sessions. These never leave your device.
- Backup history - a log of your last 30 backup runs (file counts, timestamps, and statistics), stored in the app's local Application Support directory. This never leaves your device.
- File hashes - to help detect corruption, CardBackup stores a small verification hash alongside copied files on your device. This information never leaves your device.
- Preferences - a single flag recording whether you have seen the conflict-resolution explanation, stored in UserDefaults.
Notifications
If you grant permission, the app sends local notifications to report when a backup completes or fails. These notifications are generated entirely on-device and are not routed through any external service.
Data we do not collect
CardBackup has no servers, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party SDKs. CardBackup does not operate any backend servers and does not send your files or usage data to the developer. No information about you, your files, or your usage is ever transmitted off your device.
CardBackup itself does not collect crash reports or analytics. However, Apple may collect diagnostic information according to your device and App Store privacy settings.
iCloud
If you choose a destination folder in iCloud Drive, files are stored using Apple's iCloud services and may be processed according to Apple's own terms and privacy policies.
Children's privacy
CardBackup does not collect any data from anyone, including children under 13.
